Day 3

Or day 5, depends how you look at it.

But what happened to day 1? Day 2? Do they even exist? Well, yes they do, but Ive only started writing as of day 3... or 5... depends how you look at it.

Dieting is a ridiculous word that gives such bad connotations, restriction/hunger/boredom, all of which instantly make you feel tired and wanting a bag of quavers.  What we eat is called our diet, so why is changing that to lose weight called dieting? Changing channel on the TV isn't called televisioning, but who are we to question the finer points of the English language... We'd be here all day.

I've started a diet. Again. Its January. Again. This is becoming something of a routine for me. Lose at the start of the year for maybe 4 months, do really well and feel great and then spend the rest of the year putting it all back on. Plus more. This has to stop! So thats why this diet is based on doing Weight Watchers, and also doing EXERCISE.  That awful word... makes you think of being tired/achy/exhausted (if you're lazy like me it does anyway). Pairing healthy eating with getting fit is surely a winning combination! I think I've cracked it.

I started full of enthusiasm, bought a blender and my own body weight in fruit and veg (which cost my own body weight in gold) and I bought fitness DVDs on the cheap. I already have oodles of clothes to wear for exercise; Ive aquired them on many a bright idea to 'start running' and 'get fit'. Needless to say, the fitness DVDs have yet to be opened... I will do though. I have already given myself my word. And my word is worth, well, very little. But thats not the point! I will open them because I have committed myself to starting Yoga classes on Wednesdays.  And don't think I don't know what you're thinking, yoga isn't really going to cut it with the whole weight loss thing. You are wrong! Geri Halliwell lost loads by doing yoga.  And I do find the most important thing with getting fit is to enjoy yourself. If you enjoy walking, you should go walking. Personally, I don't enjoy walking. If you like playing football, play football.  I also dislike football. But I do enjoy yoga enough to do these 10 classes over 10 weeks, and I also intend to do pilates on Tuesdays after I've been weighed at my WeightWatchers meeting.

In the past I've just restricted calories and gone running and used an exercise bike, this worked wonderfully, but once I stopped there was no desire to start again because I was doing too much.  I've done the Dukan diet. That also worked wonders, but its so restrictive and once I failed I just stopped completely. Again, with no desire to start back because I was doing too much.  This time I'm hoping I can stay on until I actually reach my goal weight.

I have 4 weddings to attend this year. I'll be on a lot of pictures.  And I'm currently the biggest I've ever been (lies! I've lost 4 lb already!). Im starting this new regime and I'm not doing it on my own.

I'm going to Weight Watchers with friends.

I'm going to yoga and pilates with a friend.

It's January! And I hate January. This acts as a great distraction from that fact.

I'm not alone. I have people to spur me on, and I have competition. So far I've lost 4lb and I've not even started Yoga! Its going well.
